Lapis Lazuli Blue – Ultramarine genuine watercolour -full pan - Extracted from the precious lapis lazuli stone of Afghanistan,whose mines were mentioned by Marco Polo, this blue pigment,was imported to Europe through Venice and so named ultramarine, that means “beyond the sea” (the Mediterranean). It has been the most expensive pigment of all times; an example:Middle Age and Renaissance artists reserved it to paint the robes of the Virgin Mary.We supply lapislazuli in dry pigment (see: historic pigments list #1) or in ready-to-use gum tempera tube or watercolor pan.
